Vanguard post match kills

The answer to one of Vanguard's precious post-match mysteries has been uncovered.

If you've ever wondered what happens to those kills you get as time expires in a Vanguard match, your pain and suffering are now at an end. Players have been losing their minds trying to figure out if kills earned as time expires count toward the scoreboard and weapon progression.

Although the post-match slow-motion segment has been around for a few Call of Duty titles now, Vanguard's manages to feel different. This may be due to the hitmaker sound effects still coming through as time expires in the match.

Do kills count in the post-match segment of Vanguard?

Vanguard scoreboard red star.

To answer the above question, they do and they don't. Players have confirmed that kills during the post-match slow-motion segment will not "count" and appear on the scoreboard. On the other hand, kills earned within this time will register for weapon progression purposes.

These kills impact weapon level as well as camo challenges. This portion of the match can be utilized as a neat way to rack up an extra kill or two. It will be up to your discretion to make the kill count toward a specific camo challenge as the user below discovered.

The likely reason these kills don't show up on the scoreboard is due to the inclusion of kill-limit game modes. Take Team Deathmatch for example. Kills are counted and registered toward the overall score limit. Once the score limit is reached, tracking another kill on the scoreboard would defeat the purpose.

Frustrated Vanguard players demand return of powerful Trophy System Field Upgrade

With Tactical and Lethal grenades running rampant in Vanguard, players are begging the devs to reintroduce the Trophy System Field Upgrade.

Vanguard Trophy system

Without the Trophy System Field Upgrade, Vanguard players have no method to counter Tactical and Lethal grenades.

When Vanguard's list of Perks and Field Upgrades released, players couldn't help but notice the glaring absence of a franchise staple. Without this vital Field Upgrade to counter the effectiveness of certain Tactical and Lethal equipment, players believe grenades to be overpowered.

Some would argue that the technologically advanced Trophy System was purposely kept out of Vanguard to preserve the realism of a WWII setting. The devs were dedicated to putting forth as authentic an experience as possible. Although, the Trophy System could have joined the list of a few other aspects that encroach on realism.

Does Vanguard need a Trophy System?

modern warfare's trophy system

For starters, a Trophy System "Destroys thrown enemy equipment and launcher missiles within 10 meters." It's been a common inclusion in most Call of Duty games and a very popular choice for objective-based game modes.

Equipping a Trophy System can make the world of a difference when protecting a Hardpoint or Domination flag. As it stands, Vanguard players are bombarded with never-ending grenades, leaving players weak in a game that boasts a low TTK. This is especially true with the Ship Haus and Small Map Mayhem playlist active.

One Reddit user cheekily points out that the argument of wanting to keep the game realistic is weakened by the devs' inclusion of Tactical Insertions. Clearly, they are willing to overlook some elements and make exceptions. Vanguard players are hoping that this willingness to overlook certain realism aspects will extend to the Trophy System.

After all, this wouldn't be the first time a Call of Duty game exhibits technology that exceeds the limits of the era it takes place in. The previous title, Black Ops: Cold War featured a fully functioning Trophy System in the Cold War era.

Killstreaks have been wreaking havoc in Call of Duty's multiplayer for years, and Vanguard is no exception, with some players begging for a mode without them.

Vanguard's Multiplayer has been very popular since release, with many recently enjoying the return of classic Call of Duty map Shipment.

Killstreaks have become an iconic part of the multiplayer experience, and Vanguard offers players some pretty strong options. Killstreaks like the Attack Dogs and Bombing Run can often cause havoc on maps, especially when called in together.

It seems some players are fed up with these overpowered killstreaks, calling on the devs to bring the popular no-streaks mode Face Off from Cold War into Vanguard.

Players call for mode without Vanguard Killstreaks

Face Off was originally a game mode in Black Ops Cold War. This mode saw teams of six battle it out on the Gunfight maps, featuring Domination, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed.

One of the most loved aspects of this mode was the fact that Scorestreaks were disabled. This is something that Reddit user lookatmycode would also like to see in Vanguard, posting that "there should be a game mode without killstreaks."

In their post, the player expresses their experience with Killstreaks in Vanguard. The user states that a lot of their games are spent "mostly getting crushed by killstreaks" with the whole map in "chaos."

They aren't the only one who feels this way either, as users in the comments are expressing similar opinions:

"Mortar barrages are annoying even if my team is using them, they shake the screen and put smoke in my face, and dogs feel too op with having like double the health of a person plus it feels like my shots go through them sometimes."

Here's another similar view: "What's especially annoying is the kill streak that turns half the map on fire. That on top of people throwing thermites always drops my FPS to about 40 frames."

Perhaps it's time for the devs to do something about these overpowered killstreaks. A lot of the community are feeling the same way. A game mode like Face Off from Cold War could satisfy players.
